As we head into the busy run-up to the fourth quarter, there’s plenty of new features and updates to give merchants a helping hand as you get ready for autumn and the festive period beyond.
This month, we’re shining a light on key developments including platform enhancements, handy new apps, and strategic tips to keep your Shopify store running smoothly – so let’s dive in.
Native exchanges for Facebook (Meta) orders
Up until recently, sorting out exchanges for Facebook orders was a bit of a faff. You had to:
-
Process a return for the original order
-
Create a brand-new order for the replacement items
But as of 26 August 2025, Shopify has made things much easier. You can now manage Facebook order exchanges directly in your Shopify admin – all within a single order. That means less hassle for you, more revenue kept in your pocket, and a smoother experience for your customers.
The new system also gives you more flexibility:
-
You can offer exchanges for any product in your catalogue
-
You can track return-related fees with ease
-
And for the first time, you’re able to charge fees for returns if needed
Email notifications for store credit
On top of that, you can now send customers an email notification whenever they receive store credit. A small but mighty update that helps keep communication clear and customers happy.
Customer notifications for store credit
There’s now a new email notification you can use whenever you issue store credit. With this, you can keep customers in the loop about their balance while encouraging them to shop with you again.
When you’re issuing store credit, simply tick “Notify customer” to send an email showing the credit amount and their total balance. You’ll find the email template under Settings → Notifications, where you can customise it to match your brand’s tone and style.
For example, if a customer returns a gift, you can issue store credit and they’ll automatically get an email with their balance – making it more likely they’ll browse your latest products rather than ask for a refund.
Social sign-in for customer accounts
Customers can now sign in with Google or Facebook on your storefront. These quick and familiar sign-in methods remove barriers for shoppers, turning casual browsers into repeat customers.
The benefits are clear:
-
Less friction when creating an account → higher conversion rates
-
A smoother login process → fewer abandoned carts
-
Better customer data collection → without long registration forms
-
Increased trust → customers can use accounts they already know
Edit orders with duties and import taxes
You can now edit orders with duties and import taxes applied – something that wasn’t possible before. That means you can add or remove products even after an order’s been placed.
Once you’ve saved the changes, duties and import taxes will automatically recalculate on all unfulfilled items, with the updated amounts clearly displayed in the order details page.
For UK merchants, this makes international selling a lot more flexible: less need to cancel orders, more confidence around compliance, and a smoother experience for customers abroad.
App of the Month: Quotify
Quotify is a handy app that makes it easy to generate professional quotes directly from your Shopify admin – perfect if you sell custom or high-value products.
Some of the highlights include:
-
Branded quotes that match your store’s look and feel
-
Built-in tools for handling counter-offers
-
Automated reminders for pending quotes
-
One-click conversion from accepted quotes into live orders
It’s especially useful for B2B stores, custom product sellers, and service-based businesses on Shopify.

Introducing the New Out 'n' About Website
We’re excited to share that the Out ’n’ About website has had a full redesign – and it’s live now at outnabout.com!
Just like their all-terrain buggies, the new site was built to make the customer journey smoother, more intuitive, and more enjoyable. It reflects Out ’n’ About’s mission of helping families who love the outdoors to explore anywhere, together.
With over 20 years of British design heritage behind them, the refreshed site brings their story to life while making it easier than ever for parents to find the perfect buggy for family adventures. Born from the frustrations of parents in Bedfordshire who needed a pushchair that could keep up with an active lifestyle, the brand has always stood for practicality, lightweight design, and durability – values we’ve carried through in the new digital experience.
What’s new on the site:
-
A streamlined shopping experience for pushchairs and accessories
-
Bigger, brighter product galleries showing the buggies in action
-
A mobile-friendly design for parents on the go
-
Improved support resources when help’s needed
-
A spotlight on the brand-new Nip About Electric Cargo Bike
In a world packed with digital distractions, shopping for the tools that help families get outdoors shouldn’t be complicated – and with this redesign, it’s not.
Have a nosey at outnabout.com and see what you think.
